Bystronic × Sportelli.Tech partnership

Sportelli.Tech, official Bystronic Tube partner

For 40 years, we have supported your tube cutting, bending and finishing projects. We design tooling to your requirements and work on site at your factories to provide ongoing support and after-sales service for your equipment. Expanding our offering to tube laser cutting was therefore a natural next step. Through our partnership with Bystronic, that support now extends to the ByTube Star 130 and ByTube Star 330.

  • Round sectionsØ 10 – 130 mm (up to 170 mm as an option)
  • Square and rectangular sectionsfrom 10 x 10 to 130 x 130 mm
  • Maximum tube length at loading6,500 – 8,500 mm depending on configuration
  • Maximum load per metre20 kg/m
  • Part length at unloading4,000, 6,100 or 8,000 mm depending on the system selected
  • Laser sourceFibre, 4 kW
  • RAW MATERIALSSteel, stainless steel, copper, aluminium, …
    Tubes, profiles, U L I …

As options, Laser Scan, the weld seam detection camera and Quick Cut allow an optimal configuration.

Typical project profile: many part numbers and small batches, varied sections, a need to prepare lengths and openings before assembly or before another operation. Mechanical subcontracting, structures, furniture, metal fit-out, the building industry: these are applications to be studied case by case, starting from your actual parts.

    Tubes, profiles, U L T I H …
  • TUBE CLAMPING2 or 3 chucks, as preferred

With its 6 or 10 kW fibre laser source, the ByTube Star 330 combines cutting power and flexibility for tubes and profiles, including thick walls and angled cuts. Nitrogen, oxygen, gas mixture or high-pressure air: the choice of process adapts to your materials and to your finishing requirements, in order to seek the best balance between cutting speed, quality and cost per part.

130 or 330: what determines the right choice?

The choice is not made on the model name. In practice, the 130 addresses small and medium sections and a wide variety of part numbers; the 330 addresses large sections, long lengths and heavy loads, with 3D cutting depending on the application. It is your parts that settle the question, by looking at:

  • the maximum section and the actual shape of the profiles;
  • the material and the thickness to be cut;
  • the required cutting geometries, in a plane or in three dimensions;
  • the lengths of the bars supplied and the lengths of the finished parts;
  • the load per metre of the tubes to be handled;
  • the volumes, the batch sizes and the number of part numbers;
  • outfeed requirements: sorting, removal and any secondary operations.

Two workshops working on the same diameter can end up with different configurations: it is the combination of these criteria that counts, not a single figure taken in isolation.

Does your part combine laser cutting and bending?

The partnership combines Bystronic’s laser expertise with 40 years of Sportelli.Tech know-how on tube, wire and profiles. If your part combines cuts, assembly slots and bends, we examine the constraints of both operations in the same technical discussion. Their order is validated part by part, depending in particular on:

  • The position of the openings relative to the bent areas: a slot located in or near a deformed area may change with bending.
  • Gripping: bending, like cutting, means holding the tube — grip length, clamping areas, acceptable offcuts.
  • The material, the section and the bending radii required, in order to assess the feasibility of the part and the choice of tooling.
  • Inspection: the order chosen determines what is measured, at what stage and against which datum.

This is validated part by part. One important distinction: these lasers cut straight lengths of tube and profile — they are not machines for cutting tubes that have already been bent. An operation planned after bending calls for equipment suited to the formed geometry.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the ByTube Star 130 and the ByTube Star 330?

The working envelope, essentially. The 130 covers round sections from Ø 10 to 130 mm (up to 170 mm as an option) with a load of up to 20 kg/m; the 330 goes up to Ø 305 mm as standard, accepts up to 65 kg/m, handles longer bars and offers 3D cutting. Handling and outfeed sorting requirements differ accordingly.

Does the ByTube Star 330 cut 330 mm tubes?

No. “330” is the model name. The standard round capacity goes up to 305 mm, and an optional extension kit makes it possible to go up to 324 mm on closed round profiles.

Can a tube laser machine be bought without a bending project?

Yes. A tube laser project on its own is perfectly acceptable: there is no Sportelli.Tech bending machine to acquire alongside it. Bending is an expertise available in the discussion, not a condition.

What is the price of a ByTube Star 130 or 330?

It depends on the configuration: model, laser source, loading and unloading lengths, inspection options, handling and associated services. We do not display an indicative price; the quotation is drawn up on the basis of your requirement.

Can the machine cut my materials and thicknesses?

This needs to be assessed for your application. Grade, thickness, section and surface condition are checked against the capabilities of the machine in its chosen configuration. Send us your part files and we will assess their feasibility.

What exactly does the offer cover: installation, training, service?

These elements are specified in the offer drawn up for your project, together with each party’s scope of responsibility, which we will adapt with you according to your situation.

Tell us about your project so we can assess the configuration

A description of your parts and of your production is enough to get started: sections, materials, lengths, volumes, and what you produce today.

If you have drawings or 3D part files, let us know: we will tell you how to send them.

We will then come back to you to better understand your requirement and to propose the ideal solution for your project.
